Meet Kalamity!
Kalamity is a local hip hop team that was founded in 2007. I'm just finishing up my 3rd year on the team. We are a group of college age kids trying to make a difference the only way we know how; through DANCE! We do this is by putting on fundraisers and benefit concerts. We put on an average of 2 to 3 benefit concerts each year and donate ever cent we earn to our yearly cause. What causes have we done? You name it! Kalamity’s main goal is go help as many community members as we can from doctors bills to funeral cost and everything in between. We pick one main cause every year to focus on. This year we chose the story of Jeanette Bracken. Jeanette is a single mother of 6 kids desperately in need of a kidney transplant. Jeanette is currently working two jobs while going in for dialysis 3 days a week for several hours. Jeanette has been on the transplant waiting list since 2009. She has been currently been put on hold for surgery unless she can come up with 20% of the cost of surgery. Kalamity is doing everything we can to put money in her pocket. We put on severely fundraiser every month in Jeanette’s name such as babysitting, garage/bake sales, college dances. Etc.
A little about the members. Kalamity is made up of 2 boys, 4 college girls, 7 married ladies, and 5 mothers. We practice 3 times a week as early as 4:50 am. Kalamity isn't just your normal dance group. The team is humble. We recognize who/where we got our dancing gift from. We start and end every practice, fundraiser, and performance with a prayer. We are truly thankful for our gifts and the chance we have to share them. Come check us our and help support our cause! This years concert will be held and Desert Hills High School at 7pm on December 2nd and 3rd. Hope to see you there!
